Questions and answers
How long does the test take?
From about 3 minutes for 50 words to half an hour for 500. You choose the length before you start: the more words, the more precise the estimate.
Is the test free? Do I need an account?
Yes, the test is free. You can take it and see your result without signing up. If you want to learn the words you missed, create a free account and continue studying in your browser or the GoNative mobile app.
How accurate is the result?
The test estimates your passive vocabulary — the words you recognise. It does not check grammar, listening or speaking, so it is not a full language exam. Mark a word as known only when you understand it without a translation, and the estimate will be close to your real level.
What do the levels A1–C2 mean?
They are the six levels of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR): A1–A2 basic user, B1–B2 independent user, C1–C2 proficient user. The test checks words from every level and estimates yours from your answers.
What can I do after the test?
You will see your estimated vocabulary level and the words you marked as unfamiliar. Choose the words you want to learn. With an account, you can add them to your list and review them in your browser or in the GoNative app.
